In my search for the perfect object news feed I learned something interesting about myself.
I think I should have gone into linguistics.. specifically linguistics as it relates to computers. I never would have known this part about myself in college, as nothing I was ever told or taught gave me any hint into this field, but now that I have found it, I wish there was a way I could be a part of it.
This is a description of my blog. Not very inspired and doesn't say a thing about Flash.

Adobe, Flash Development, and Apple? WHUT?

Today adobe announced a few exciting things.
First, flash player 10.3 is now in Beta. This is great for users, and not just developers. The main key new feature in this version is the much asked for new controls over security. Instead of being redirected to a special page, and needing to be a flash dev to know how to remove flash cookies, they have integrated it all into the browser and things are just much better for everyone. There are also some nice dev updates such as Acoustic Cancelation and you can read all about it here.

Google, can you make us an Objective News feed?

I once believed that everything is on the internet. That might be true, but I'd never know it. Search today has some major drawbacks, such as normally you can only find the popular results to any search query. Sometimes however you want the unpopular ones.

FlashIsrael Event

I recently went to my first Israeli Flash Conference. It was aptly named FlashIsrael. I was surprised by how good it was. We had some great speakers; Grant Skinner, Ben Forta, Lee Brimlow, Kevin Schmidt just to name the most famous of them. Back in October I had gone to Adobe MAX so I was really expecting to be underwhelmed in comparison.

Recently, I ran into a bunch of odd behavior from one of the programs (software, program, application, app?. I feel like app is a dirty buzzword these days) I had to update and it took me a while to figure out what went wrong.

ArrayCollections, Binding, and Flex 3.5 and Repeaters

If there is interest, leave a comment and I will try to expand on this post.
Recently, I was working on some legacy code in Flex 3.5. We wanted to take this pile of inherited classes, and do some composition with them to make updates to the code easier. All was going well until I hit this very strange bug, where only the very last of the items in a repeater was getting properly updated.

Flash.. Israel of the Internet?
I read a pro-Israel article on my android phone today. I mention this because normally, all the news articles which I get in my news feed about Israel has some not nice things to say. And I don't just mean that they aren't nice because I disagree with them. They aren't nice because many of the facts sited, when searched on the internet, are shown to be false.

Avi, The problem is, coding Angels is often more expensive than coding demons. It requires better planning, more time, everyone's buy-in, discipline, documentation, good memory of where the current Angels reside, and how to quickly find them, etc. More often than not, our bosses are Devils that preffer fast demons to slow and expensive Angels. Maybe with the comming of the programming Messiah, all that will change, but Neo died in The Matrix 3, so the wait for that messianic era continues. He makes a good point. The world is not perfect, we aren't all working on open ended projects with a seemingly infinite amount of time to develop the fine pieces of the code. So what is one to do?

This is the type of idea that can get everyone angry at me.
For some reason, (ok, it's not really a mystery) people have a hard time following SRP.
I have been inspired by a sudden Flash of an idea to fix this problem.
